It’s thought that coffee first reached the land of Colombia with the help of priests: one of them, a man named Francisco Romero, is generally believed to be responsible for the birth of commercial coffee cultivation in Colombia. Apparently, at some point in the early 1800s, he began to use the physical labour involved in coffee-growing as a way for his parishioners to atone for their sins. It soon turned out that the Colombian climate is suited ideally for coffee cultivation, which is why this practice was quickly picked up by the locals. Starting out as penance, coffee-growing is nowadays nothing short of a way of life for the passionate coffee farmers of Colombia! 

The so-called ‘sugarcane’ method used to remove caffeine from this coffee employs spring water and ethyl acetate, an all-natural compound derived from cane sugar. Mixed together, these two ingredients result in particularly gentle decaffeination, which preserves the finest flavours and aromas present in the coffee beans.

This coffee will turn out amazing regardless of how you brew it, yet its medium/medium dark roast makes it suited particularly well for pressure devices, such as espresso machines, Aeropress coffee makers and moka pots.
